William L. Pyatt is admitted to practice law in South Carolina as well as the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina, United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.  Attorney Pyatt has the distinction of being certified to defend as “First Chair” in South Carolina Death Penalty cases.

Attorney Pyatt has received extensive experience as a criminal defense attorney while serving as Chief Public Defender for Newberry County for over 11 years.  He has also taught courses in the areas of business law and criminal justice at Allen University, Benedict College and Midlands Technical College.

Attorney Pyatt is a member of or affiliated with the American Civil Liberties Union, the NAACP, AARP, Southern Poverty Law Center and Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under the Law.

He is a graduate of Morehouse College, Atlanta, Georgia and the University of South Carolina, School of Law, Columbia, SC.
